SHAHGANJ POLICE on Tuesday arrested two persons and claimed to have busted an inter-district racket of pirated and porn CDs.

The cops recovered more than 20,000 CDs from the shop of the accused. Cops informed that they were made aware of the fact that a huge racket of porn and pirated CDs was functioning from a shop located in the Vaishno Electronics Market under Shahganj police station for the past quite some time.

Srinagar, July 14 (ANI): A local court on Friday rejected the bail application of former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir and senior IAS Officer Mohammad Iqbal Khanday, arrested in connection with the high-profile Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal.

Chief Judicial Magistrate M Y Akhoon rejected the bail application of the duo which he had on July 11 posted for final orders till today.

SRINAGAR: Fifteen persons accused in the sex scandal, including two former Ministers in the Jammu and Kashmir Government, began an indefinite hunger strike inside the Central jail here alleging that they were not given a "fair" trial.

Early on Saturday, the accused refused food, alleging that the treatment meted out to them in the court trial was "unfair."

NEW DELHI, July 7 (Reuters) - Prostitutes in southern India are being given discount shopping cards in return for having regular checks at a sexual health clinic as part of a project to raise HIV/AIDS awareness.

UNAIDS, the United Nation's AIDS-prevention agency, recently said India has the highest HIV caseload in the world, with an estimated 5.7 million people living with the virus.

Kochi: The State Government on Tuesday filed an appeal against the verdict of the Principal Assistant Sessions Judge, Kozhikode, acquitting all the 16 accused persons in the ice-cream parlour sex racket case.

In the appeal filed through Director General of Prosecutions P. G. Thampi, the Government said the witnesses who had clearly supported the prosecution case during the stage of investigation turned hostile during the trial.

Srinagar: Continuing its probe into the sex racket that has rocked the Jammu and Kashmir, the CBI arrested senior IAS official Iqbal Khandey and a hotel-owner here today for allegedly procuring girls for prostitution.

The CBI picked up Khandey, a 1978 batch officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, from his residence and placed him under arrest after questioning him briefly, CBI sources said.
